Become a Social Media Specialist for ROLDA Australia

#GiveHope to animals that have no one else

Behind every dog rescued from a Romanian roadside, and every animal pulled from a warzone in Ukraine, is a story that needs telling and an audience that needs to hear it. As a Social Media Specialist, you’d be the one telling it, using your skills to build and captivate ROLDA’s online community across platforms, and turning followers into a genuine, engaged part of our mission.

This is a remote volunteer role, perfect for someone who’s experienced with social media, understands what the metrics are really telling you, and has a genuine passion for engaging audiences with content that matters.

ROLDA is an international animal welfare organisation working to rescue, rehabilitate, and protect vulnerable animals in Romania and Ukraine. Our work focuses on long-term solutions, ethical care, and sustainable change for animals in crisis — and as we build our footprint here in Australia, your voice could help shape how that story reaches people.

What This Role Involves:

  • As a Social Media Specialist, you’ll be the voice that carries ROLDA’s work out into the world — developing and managing content across platforms like Facebook and Instagram, shaping each post to suit how people actually engage there. It’s about more than posting: you’ll help grow a loyal, engaged following, track what’s genuinely working through the metrics, and feed that understanding back into a stronger digital strategy. You’ll work closely with your Volunteer Coordinator to guide you throughout, helping craft the kind of visually engaging, compelling messages that turn scrollers into supporters.
  • We’re looking for someone who communicates well across different platforms and audiences, understands social media metrics and knows how to act on them, and has a natural storytelling instinct alongside an eye for what’s trending. Comfort managing multiple tasks, working both independently and as part of a team, matters just as much as a genuine passion for animal welfare and the change this work makes possible.

Why This Role Matters

  • A rescue story only changes hearts and minds if people actually see it. Funding doesn’t happen by accident, and neither does reach. It takes someone who knows how to tell a story well, and who cares enough to keep telling it. As a Social Media Specialist, your contribution goes directly toward that: helping ROLDA connect with new supporters and build a presence here in Australia that genuinely reflects the scale of the work being done overseas.
  • Every post you help craft becomes part of a much bigger picture: shelter, food, and medical care for dogs and cats in Romania and Ukraine who have no one else to speak for them.
